Kwik Sew Female Hoodie Project

Kwik Sew Pattern 3297 Female Fitted Hoodie
A couple changes I started off with on this hoodie
I changed the suggested materials from fleece to flannel, because I'm so inspired by the tailored group.  My wife picked out some nice colors for this and I think she did a great job making this look good with her color selection.
I also changed the length of the pattern, I used the XL length to make it lay longer, which it turned out nicely with the length.
Things I don't like about the pattern
The shoulders fit strangely on all the people I've seen it on, they need to be decreased about an inch off the ends. It can easily be adjusted, I'll do it on the last class I'm teaching to show my students how to, time allowing.
Also finishing edges it sometimes mentions and sometimes does not.  I can  go back and add finished edges fairly easily, it's just annoying to try to figure it out.  (as a side note, very, very, very few patterns tell you when and where to finish all of your edges)
Making Up
Simple straight forward, easy to do, all of these things describe this project.  You get two different styles of collar or hood.  The pockets seem like a good size and are secured well.  It's not as fitted as I imagined it would be, maybe it will shrink up a little while in the wash (*crosses fingers*).  A nice project, with a little difficult spots for the novice sewer.  A fun project that I did in an afternoon.
Machine Used: Janome Gem Gold 3
This machine is one of our smallest, lightest weight and more affordable machines.  It does have plastic parts on the inside of it, which is why it's so light and portable.  With the machine comes a few of your basic feet, nothing fancy, several extra bobbins and all the little tools to make things work.
I enjoyed sewing on this machine more than some of our pricier models because of the control I had of the needle.  My machine at home is a mechanical machine, which is what I am use to, so this little machine is easy to operate and handle.  It put some beautiful straight seams into my hoodie (made of flannel, so it's a little thicker than the quilters cotton). but struggled a little on the extra layers when I installed the zipper (but we all know how "easy" a zipper is to install).
I highly suggest this machine for a beginner sewer or someone who only uses their machine once in a while.  It is not, in my opinion, an everyday sewers machine because it only has about 12 stitches, though it does have a button hole attachment, and has a fairly small neck area.  So not suggested for quilting, but for quick repairs on pants or bags, small home decor projects, or some light garment construction this is your machine.
